Show time is once again upon us!
The annual Royal Norfolk Show is the UK’s largest two day county show and this year it took place on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th June 2016 at the Norfolk Showground.
It’s the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association’s flagship event and once again celebrated the very best of food, farming and the countryside, together with exciting Grand Ring shows, live entertainment and top quality local food and drink.
This year marked many special anniversaries. The theme ‘Celebrating our Heritage’ was an important part of the show as a number of well-known local organisations all celebrated a significant milestone. RAF Marham and Cub Scouts celebrated their centenary, The Norfolk Wildlife Trust marked their 90th anniversary and of course 2016 is Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th Birthday.
New additions
New additions to the show included the Broads and Tourism Village and a new look young festival called ‘The Green’. The Cookery Theatre received a fresh new look and name, The Grow it, Cook it, Eat it Stage, with a celebrity appearance in the form of Monty Don.
Our job at the show
The team at Shorthose Russell are involved in all aspects before, during and after the Show which includes everything from designing and producing artwork for the show, launching digital campaigns and managing the press office and social media on the day.
We are some of the first to arrive on site both days to make sure the press office is open for business. With local, regional and national journalists in attendance, as well as film makers and photographers we make sure everyone has everything they need before, during and after the event.
Royal visitors
With two Royal visitors in attendance, this year was a real Royal affair. Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall explored the sights of the show, taking a visit to the Broads and Tourism Village, Discovery Zone and the Adnams Food and Drink Experience. It was a buzz of activity working with Clarence House to ensure everyone was in the right place at the right time.
Exploring the show
We always manage to grab some time exploring the show for ourselves. The food hall is always a favourite with local producers offering up everything from pork pies to popcorn. One event that is not to be missed and is a real highlight of the show is the Church Farm Pork Prix. It is pandemonium as piglets race around the ring to bring home the bacon!
This year’s Royal Norfolk Show was a real success for everyone, here’s to 2017!
