Conferences and events to mark on your 2017 calendar

With a wealth of information at our fingertips you would be forgiven for spending time learning and researching at your desk with nothing but the World Wide Web to inspire you. In reality, nothing beats getting outside and attending a good old fashion conference or industry event! With the chance to meet like-minded people and experience something different it is often the push need to spark new ideas.

As an integrated communications agency based in Norwich we are very lucky to be able to hop on the train and reach the many London based events in a couple of hours but we thought we would also share some of our favourite digital, marketing and creative conferences that are happening around the UK in 2017.

Year round – Glug
Hosting design and creative culture events across the UK and the world, Glug is not to be missed for those in the creative industries. Teaming up with the design experts from big brand partners including Deliveroo and Barclays the event encourages professionals to get inspired by amazing talks and amazing people. There are also localised Glug events around the UK too which are perfect for networking on a smaller, more personal scale. Current cities include Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and Brighton with the hope to expand further in 2017.

March 8th-9th – Marketing Week Live – London
With over 5,000 visitors, Marketing Week Live is one of the biggest events to attend if you are a senior marketing professional. There are hundreds of seminars and workshops over the two day event which offers plenty of opportunity to learn and find solutions to all your marketing needs. The event is a mixture of expert advice, marketing campaign case studies from some top brands and training sessions to brush up on industry knowledge.

March 30th-31st – DiBi Conference – Edinburgh
Design It; Build It is a two day conference which has been firmly established as one of the UK’s leading tech conferences. The 2017 event will have a focus on risk taking and encouraging designers to step out of their comfort zones. Speakers include Molly Nix a Senior Product Designer from Uber, Tobias Ahlin, Lead Experience Designer for Minecraft and Vibha Bamba a Senior Product Designer at Airbnb.

We attended last year and wrote two blog posts about all our favourite bits which you can take a read of here and here.

April 7th – Brighton SEO – Brighton
This one-day search marketing conference takes place twice a year, once in April and once in September. After starting out from humble beginnings in a pub it has now grown into one of the most important search marketing conferences in the UK. Brighton SEO gives like-minded digital creatives the chance to meet up, share ideas and learn. It features a host of training courses and talks with the best bit being that it’s free!

Last year three members of the SRL team headed to Brighton SEO. Take a read of A Designers view of SEO blog post and what the best bits were for our Digital Marketer, Jamie.

June 8th-9th – The Content Marketing Academy 2017 – Edinburgh
The UK’s leading content marketing, social media and business growth conference. Each event has a real ethos around helping business owners to become better marketers with the use of workshops and education. The Content Marketing Academy conference will give you a better understanding of what content marketing is and how it can benefit your own business.

October 4th-5th – Festival of Marketing 2017 – London
The Festival of Marketing is the largest global event dedicated to brand marketers with over 200 speakers, workshops and training sessions taking place over two days. Scent entrepreneur and creator of some of the world’s most-loved fragrances, Jo Malone, is headlining the 2017 festival. She is set to share her brand building expertise and entrepreneurial journey founding her latest venture Jo Loves. Make sure you keep an eye out for more 2017 speakers, last year’s impressive line-up included Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak and Former MD at JP Morgan, India Gary-Martin.
