Pinch, punch, first day of the month and the first day of #Deskmas!
Every year leading up to Christmas we get into the festive spirit with a Christmas challenge. Previous years have seen us gorge on mince pies for a whole month (we are all still a bit queasy at the thought of them), make our own Christmas jumper creations and film our own cinematic ’12 days of Christmas’ masterpiece.
2016 is the year of #Deskmas, a Christmas challenge like no other with everyone channelling their creativity into their work stations. The competition has been hotting up for the last couple of weeks, secret meetings have been taking place and the tape measures are out!
Day one kicks off with Sophie and Rachel from the PR team taking over half of the PR Pod with their very own tinsel Christmas tree desk.
Day two sees Petra create a Pinterestable Nordic inspired scene complete with doily trees, snowstorm garlands and a cosy house to escape the cold.
Day three we received a visit from the Deskmas Dwarves. This theatrical fairytale scene sits in our creative studio department (where else!) and the opening night came complete with popcorn.
Day four took a more understated design with minimalist Mark introducing dancing snowman, Kipper, to the PR Pod. Kipper likes to bop around to the tune of ‘You Can’t Touch This’ by MC Hammer but with a festive ‘Christmas time’ twist.
Day five Jamie really embraced the full on tackyness that the festive season is all about. Complete with Christmas pudding accessories and comfy slippers. This deskmas reveal came with personalised hot chocolate treats and Christmas cards, what a way to sway the votes.
Day six saw Hayley create a very festive desk with the theme of frozen, flakes and fairy lights. It’s definitely a contrast to yesterday’s creation, bringing a touch of class to the Shorthose office.
Day seven was all about content unwrapped with Nathan’s interactive Deskmas. A desk, computer, phone and just about everything covered in brown paper with doodle pens available for the whole office to draw their favourite thing about the festive season. There were even a sack of presents to keep us all sweet.
Day 8 Ania knows the way to our hearts (and votes) with an extra sweet gingerbread house complete with candy canes, Haribo and ginger nut biscuits.
Day 9 deskmas is Chris’s cosy creation. We are all round the log fire which comes complete with a Santa down the chimney and presents under the tree.
Day 10 is all about Santa’s work station with a geeky twist, complete with crackers and home made sausage rolls, what more could we ask for?
Day 11 deskmas finale was Nat and Pete. All rules went out of the window for the “Worst Christmas Experience Ever” which saw the Grotty Grotto decked out with paper reindeer and flashing lights. It wasn’t all doom and gloom though, there was a festive breakfast complete with Bucks Fizz, croissants and gifts for us all (bribery?!)
