On Thursday, John Mueller, Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google, confirmed that the new mobile algorithm boost had been fully rolled out;
FYI The mobile changes mentioned here are now fully rolled out https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2016/03/continuing-to-make-web-more-mobile.html – @JohnMu
For those who have mobile friendly websites Google was quoted as saying that there should be little to no impact.
For websites that arent, their mobile Google ranking will most likely fall further. A few of things to look out for:
Make sure your core website pages are mobile-friendly.
Monitor your mobile ranking to make sure other mobile friendly ranking factors do not have a major impact on your website.
Make sure you check other usability features such as site speed which could severely impact mobile performance.
Lastly, if your website is not responsive then it should be!
Its also important to note that this algorithm works on a page-by-page basis, which is why this will have taken a while to roll out, and also means that just because your site has lots of mobile friendly pages, key pages that arent will not rank as well on Google mobile searches.
MozCast, Mozs search weather report, had been showing high temperatures for the last few days. Whether or not the mobile roll out has influence the weather is yet to be confirmed and has almost certainly been influenced by Googles search column width changes.
Going forward, its more important than ever to make sure your content is viewable across all devices.
